It is the first Apple Watch to have an IP6X certification for resistance to dust, and maintains a WR50 water resistance rating. The newest Apple Watch continues to offer indispensable tools for health and wellness, including an electrical heart sensor and ECG app, and a Blood Oxygen sensor and app. The new Series 7 has been launched in all-new green, blue, midnight, starlight, and red colours.

In addition, the stainless steel models will be available in silver, graphite, and gold stainless steel. The Apple Watch Series 7 features a re-engineered Always-On retina display with significantly more screen area and thinner borders. The new Apple Watch for iPhone 13 and other eligible iPhone models was launched at the September Apple event. It comes with an improved design that sports a larger display and some new features as well. Apple has also made some significant improvements to battery life and charging on the Apple Watch Series 7. The company claims that the new smartwatches offer 18-hour all-day battery life, along with 33% faster charging than the previous model.

When using the Apple Watch, some users have reported issues using the heart monitoring feature due to permanent skin conditions including tattoos. The Watch uses photoplethysmography technology which utilizes the green LED lights to measure heart rates. To gauge a user's heart rate, the watch flashes green light from the LEDs at the skin and records the amount of this light that is absorbed by the red pigment of the blood.

However, under certain circumstances the skin may not allow for the light absorption to be read properly and thus provide inaccurate results. Apple has also introduced a full QWERTY swipe keyboard for the watch. Since the UI is big enough, if there are errors with the text it is quite difficult to go back and replace the words you want. This time, apart from being water-resistant, Apple is IP6X dust resistant as well. This is the first time Apple is testing its watch for dust resistance.

In the past, Apple's watchOS looked similar across all its smartwatches, minus select apps exclusive to the new hardware inside a given model. Apple Watch 7 doesn't have new sensors, though, so instead the company altered watchOS 8 for a bigger screen. The Watch Series 7 offers an 18-hour battery life, like the Series 6, though it ships with a USB Type-C cable for faster charging. The only other main feature is that the larger and brighter display allows the Watch Series 7 to offer a Full Keyboard with QuickPath, making replying to messages easier. The bigger screen also brings a new QWERTY keyboard and two unique watch faces - Contour and Modular Duo.
